“Youth is the first victim of war; the first fruit of peace. It takes 20 years or more of peace to make a man; it takes only 20 seconds of war to destroy him.”

- King Baudouin, King of Belgium

"The Strangest Dream" tells the story of Joseph Rotblat, the history of nuclear weapons and the fight against their proliferation.

Featuring local footage as well as interviews with members of the Pugwash movement and passionate public figures including Senator Roméo Dallaire, "The Strangest Dream" demonstrates the renewed threat of nuclear weapons, while encouraging hope through the example of morally engaged scientists and citizens.

Director: Eric Bednarski    Producer: Kent Martin

Produced by the National Film Board of Canada Running time: 90 minutes

The film premiered at the Atlantic Film Festival at Park Lane to a sold-out crowd and earned a 10-minute standing ovation.  Now is your opportunity to see this incredible film in the village where the Pugwash movement was born.

If you missed “The Strangest Dream” when it opened at the Atlantic Film Festival, or when we showed it here in Pugwash, you now have another chance to see the powerful, moving film about Joseph Rotblat, his life and his work with the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs.
